Most frequent questions and answers

Whether our shows are performed as part of a theatrical season or for competitions, classroom performances, festivals, or fundraisers, a licensing contract is always required.

Once you’ve decided on the musical you’re interested in producing:
– Complete and submit our online licensing application. The application may be accessed by clicking on the red “Request License” button on any of our shows’ individual pages.
– Once your application is submitted, you’ll receive an automated response letting you know it’s been received. Sit tight!

We’ll be in touch within two business days to acquire any additional information we may need. Once your application has been approved, we’ll send you a licensing contract via email. Sign your licensing contract, and submit payment. As soon as your payment is processed, you’ll have access to all production materials (script, vocal score, and professional accompaniment tracks), which will be delivered to you digitally.

You can make as many copies of these materials as you need and start rehearsals as soon as you like. Your production staff and cast are free to mark, annotate, and highlight scripts and scores at will – you’ll have nothing to return to us.

You’ll indicate your preferred payment method when completing your licensing application. We accept checks and credit cards (Visa or MasterCard).

Lovewell Institute must receive payment in full before any materials are released.

If you have a special circumstance (purchase orders, compressed timeframe, etc.) please contact us here and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Your licensing fee covers the use of each show’s script, vocal score, and professional accompaniment tracks that we supply to you for your rehearsals and production within the time frame specified on your licensing contract. All materials are distributed digitally. You will be responsible for reproducing the materials for use by your group. There are no hidden costs or additional charges – everything is included in one flat fee.

Yes. On the top navigation bar (above), click “Catalogue”, which will take you to the main page for our shows. Next, select the show that interests you. You’ll see a button at the top of the page that says “Request Perusal Script”. Click this button, fill out your information, and we’ll send you a digital copy of the script you requested via email. All Lovewell shows are protected by copyright, just like any other professional performance piece, and any changes to the original script must be approved. If you’d like to propose a change to a line or need to alter some language, please reach out to us at shows@lovewell.org. We’ll do our best to find a way to make the show work for you and your group while maintaining the integrity of the script. Yes, as long as it’s for archival purposes or distribution to the cast, crew, and their families without charge. Additionally, you may use short clips of your performance in online advertising via social media, as long as the proper credit is given to Lovewell and the students and staff who created the show. You may not post a copy of any performance in its entirety online at any time. You are not allowed to sell copies of your performance.
